Peter and John go before the Sanhedrin because they healed a 40 year old lame beggar. It is obvious to the people of Jerusalem that this miracle is from God. The Sanhedrin knows that there is nothing that they can do about this miracle, or Peter and John. So they tell Peter and John that they need to pretend that it did not happen. Peter and John are not allowed to preach because it goes against the teaching of the Temple. How often are we told, today, that we cannot speak of that which is obviously from God because it goes against what the church wants us to believe? The facts, the historical fact, support our teaching. But it is contrary to the teaching of the established church. Are we uneducated and untrained because we do not believe as the establishment wishes? See what the Bible says.
