Peter was the disciple upon whom the church was built. Shortly after Jesus made that announcement Peter rebuked Jesus for saying that the elders of the church were going to put Him to death for His attempts to straighten out the Sanhedrin. Jesus, in turn, rebuked Peter for doubting. At the last supper Jesus told Peter that he would utterly deny Jesus three times before Morning. Peter denied the accusation. At his commissioning Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him, Peter said “yes He liked Jesus.” After the ascension Peter finally figured out Jesus purpose.
