The story of the Miracle at Cana – the one where Jesus turns water into wine – is a great analogy for the gift of God to the Children of Israel, and the convicted ones under the New Covenant with the Hebrew first, and then the Gentile who is grafted into the family. God offered the gift first to the Hebrew (Good wine). They declined. Gave them the prophets and the kings (cheap wine (only because it was a concession)). He came to earth as Wholly God and Wholly man (new wine in soiled pots). The question in the end is “What kind of people deserve God’s love?” Everyone? No one? Those who accept His offer of unencumbered Grace? You hand down the verdict with the evidence presented.
